Gland made of versatile metals - C02 - ductile iron for light chemical duties in low concentrations of solids or C23 - stainless steel - offers good resistance to reducing checmicals, or K24 - a copper alloy (sand casting), which offers good shock resistance, good strength and machinability.  It also exhibits good corrosion resistance.
